This has, for a few months now, been a source of great inspiration for my sci-fi writing. Your descriptions are just as riveting as the works themselves, even when I try to ignore them I can never think of a better backstory. It's hard to put in writing how I feel about this piece but I'll just say, I look at this picture often to remind myself of the possibilities of science-fiction. Thank you for making this.

Again, more "wow" from you. :D
Is the red one Chaos? Just a thought, but perhaps it could have been represented by fractals or some kind of random pattern, because it seems too ordered for chaos.

get a texture and round it up in photoshop or Cinema 4D... then add on some effects from photoshop to make it look believable especially to give the lines depth and a feeling of depth. the lights are tiny dots that are painstakingly brushed inside the trenches..

thank you for asking! :)

Amazing! Such detail on the planets and the "death stars" are definitely something to behold in full view.

I actually have one question though and I hope I can clarify my question as best as possible for you to answer. The beam of light that seem to emerge from the colliding energy of the two planets seem to cause a bend inward through the circle light things. Why does it bend like that? I'm just curious.

a very good question you have there... finally someone brought it up..

well the idea behind those circles of light are actually bubbles of energy that expands outwards from the centre. the bending is the result of the contact with other things; if you notice the largest bubble, the edges of the 2 large planets also seem to cause a bend in the lights as a result of the bubble making contact on its surface... don't wanna get too scientific here coz i think you and i would agree that its going to lead to absurdity...

hehe, lets just say the energy bubbles distorts light...

thank you for bringing that up! :D :)

Okay, I understand that light bends energy upon contact. But why do the bubbles bend inward towards the center if the light seems to shoot from the source in the center?

lets say the energy bubbles have a similar effect to a balloon or polymer bubble... if that bubble moves fast towards a smaller object and engulfs it (assuming that the bubble/balloon doesnt burst upon contact), the surface of the bubble has to move inwards as a reaction towards the object..

but in this case its a bubble of energy, so therefore i could say that the bubble of energy is like a dense wall but permeable..

i imagined the bubble to be fast moving like a shockwave... i reckoned if i freeze that motion that's what i would see..

i could say more really, but space art is mostly about visualizing things that could and could not exist in reality... and those that are as considered impossible in reality are the ones we have to reserve for imagination. :)

Okay. Thanks for the explanation. Sorry for being so technical. I am just curious on the concept of space.

I love the ammount of detail and the contrasting colors in this piece. It is very balanced and has a wonderful effect with the "earthy" planet at the bottom left. On the bottom right hand of the red globe, the red lines seem to line up at their ends and it makes the illusion that that part of the planet is square, or cut off. I think by making those parts either wrap around, or by making them less even, then it would make the illusion go away. =)
